Observations from the top of the climb, pt 2
girl one: This is my room.
girl two: No, that can't be your room! That is where I am going to give birth!
girl one: Who are you going to give birth to?
girl two: Ethan. Come on let's find a place for me to give birth!
girl one: You can't give birth to Ethan, he's your brother.

girl one: How old are you?
girl three: I'm 10.
girl one: Me too! Well, almost. What grade are you in?
girl three: I'm in 4th grade.
girl one: Me too. What school do you go to?
girl three: I go to school in Beijing.
girl one: Oh cool, Beijing, that's in, like, Tokyo, right?
Observations from the top of the climb, pt 1
Something about human nature draws us upwards. Maybe it is the result of our evolution over centuries, the years of climbing up the food chain and years of trying to dominate one another. When small children are climbing around in the climbing structure, the littlest ones seem to have trouble going down. It isn’t that they can’t physically get down, but more like the lightness of...

Finding my quick wins
Quick win number one: finishing my New Hampshire quilt square.
Quick win number two: registering for a test that could not only improve my career but inject some adventure and excitement into my life.
Quick win number three: painting my nails.

Progress
I am making slow but steady progress on my Great State Quilt square for New Hampshire. It would be much easier if my sewing machine hadn’t kicked the bucket while I was scrambling to finish Christmas presents last month. I am trying to have the most productive week ever to make up for the past few (lovely, though they were) weekends of lounging around re-watching Lost and such. As a...
Robot Dogs.
The creepiest photo of my dad and sister’s dogs taken back during Christmas.
I had a rough day at work and really just want a cookie or something sweet but of course I don’t have anything of the sort in the apartment right now which is only prolonging my frustration at life. Yes, I need a cookie or a magic pill that will allow me to wake up in a new life tomorrow.
Swans
Twice this week, while stationed at an exhibit that would be dull if it weren’t for the beautiful view of the skyline and the fact that on a clear day you can see as far as the spire of Old North Church, l have seen a pair of swans float by in the channel. The first time it was snowing rather steadily and I thought I might be hallucinating, except that there was no reason that I would be...

Sometimes I wish I had more than one set of hands
There are so many crafty projects I am working on or want to be working on right now. I wish I could do more at once. I just finished an afghan I’ve been knitting for a while but I have a bunch other projects cued up. Hopefully some projects will be finished soon that I can actually post photos of.
Yesterday and today I have been given the opportunity to work on a display at the Recycle...
"I have a life ache."
How did things get this way? I’ve spent most of my life working hard at my school and college. Everything has been “the right thing to do” or “the right path to take.” There should have been some kind of warning. Someone to take me aside and say, “There is no guarantee that your hard work will pay off. There is no guarantee that you will make it just...

100th Post after a long hiatus.
So I have been slowly working out what to do with my life in general, as well as a few goals for this year. One of my goals is to visit every T stop this year. I will take a photo and do something interesting at station. Each week I will pull a few stops from a hat and post about them here.
This weekend I will be visiting St Mary’s, Dean Rd, and Symphony Stops.

Quarter life crises
I am not sure why but all of the sudden a staleness and itchiness has crept in to my life. I am not making any forward progress. It has been feeling as if all of my peers are one by one making the leap into adulthood and I standing on the diving board, still wearing plastic floaties on my arms, afraid to let my toes curl over the edge of diving board.
The recipe for a lovely, lazy weekend:

Great State Quilt
Today I came across this great blog. The author, Danielle, is looking for volunteers to help her make a Great State Quilt with a square for every state.
I have contacted her and volunteered to make a square for my lovely little home state. She is still looking for volunteers for a number of states…
I’m already brainstorming some fun ideas for my state square!
"The party you take with you!"
While waiting in CVS for my prescription to be filled I wandered down an isle and came across this little number: The Margarita to Go-Go/ Frozen beverage maker/ “The Party You Take With You!”
Not that I am totally against the idea of taking a party with you (as long as it isn’t into a car)- but as a marketing campaign? really?

I made this at work today!
It’s not much more than doodles with thread but it was fun. The silver thread is very shinny and was difficult to get on a needle but it almost looks like a very fine line of glitter glue which is pretty cool. The rare occasions when I am actually allowed (and even encouraged) to do arts and crafts-y things at work I am always unprepared, so I always just end up with doing random doodles...

Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes!!
Hells to the yeah. Today I made some delicious Guinness mini cupcakes with Bailey’s Irish Creme frosting. The other night I found the recipe for them here and immediately knew that I must make them as soon as possible.
So tasty.
A walking contradiction
On my walk home from the gym, still in my gym clothes, I munched on the apple cider dough nut that I had stashed in my purse from the ridiculous pot luck we had at work today.
I’ve been so hungry lately. I must be getting ready for hibernation.

Holy Crap... People of Walmart.com →
so this happened today:
A boy of about 7 or 8 was in the top of the 3 story climbing structure at work. He had been climbing around for a while while I worked the gate. He began to get turned around and a little frustrated. He proceeded to exclaim:
“Where am I going?! Where am I going?!! Where am I going with my entire life?!”
so prefect.

Why can’t I beat you in guitar battle!? It’s probs because I am kind of bad at guitar hero and maybe just played it for and hour and a half straight and my hand is mega cramped.
Bonus: I got paid while I played! Also, I am getting paid right now as I write this post! Hooray for paid floating holidays!! They are my most favorite thing.

unintellegible
It has felt as though I have been unable to really communicate this week. As if all of my words have been garbled and as if my words were coming out in a language no one can understand.
I still managed to survive Boston Ballet Day today at work. Now I am going to veg out and play some guitar hero. Maybe tomorrow my words will be able to reach their intended ears without so much difficulty.
